Smoking - Stop smoking totally. Neither bidis nor filter cigarettes are "safe".

Weight - Reduction of weight in overweight persons helps to control various risk factors and thereby helps to prevent a heart attack.

Diet - Diet control leads to optimal weight and normalisation of blood fats. It thus helps to prevent a heart attack.
Fats in food can be saturated or unsaturated. Increased intake of saturated fats increases the risk of heart attack. Common foods with high saturated fat are GHEE, CREAM, BUTTER, CHEESE, VANASPATI, COCONUT OIL, PALM OIL, PORK, BEEF, MEAT & EGG YOLK.

Exercise - Regular exercise will strengthen and increase the efficiency of the heart. Don't overdo the exercise particularly at the beginning.
